Meet The Sisters
At the heart of The Great Quilting Adventure are two sisters with a shared love of quilting, education, and people: Becky Malarski (the Sew Wise Quilter) and Tracey Stinger (the Busy Bee Quilter). Together, we pack our tools, fabric, and plenty of laughter as we travel the country, teaching classes, hosting retreats, and connecting with quilt shops and communities along the way.
Think quilt shop roadies—we roll into town, partner with local shops, bring education right to the people, and shine a spotlight on the amazing quilting communities across the country. Every stop is part retreat, part road trip, and part celebration of what makes quilters tick: creativity, connection, and joy.
For us, education isn’t just about blocks and borders. It’s about helping people grow, laugh, and discover their confidence—while making sure local quilt shops thrive as the hub of every community. This work feeds our soul, and we can’t wait to welcome you on the adventure.
Meet Becky – The Sew Wise Quilter
Becky is the “meat and potatoes” of the duo—linear, logical, and all about building strong foundations. A Studio 180 Certified Instructor with a Master’s in Education, she has a gift for breaking down complex quilting techniques into simple, doable steps. Becky believes that precision creates freedom: when your pieces fit together, you can relax, play, and let your creativity soar.
Beyond her expertise, Becky brings a steady energy and a heart for encouragement. She loves reminding quilters that progress—not perfection—is the real goal, and that learning new skills keeps our minds sharp and our spirits strong. Her favorite part of this adventure is helping quilters see themselves as capable, creative, and “enough.”
Meet Tracey – The Busy Bee Quilter
Tracey is the “dessert” to Becky’s “meat and potatoes”—playful, creative, and always buzzing with new ideas. Left-handed, global in her perspective, and brimming with fun, Tracey brings color and imagination to every classroom she steps into. She’s a Studio 180 Certified Instructor who thrives on helping quilters think outside the box, take risks, and embrace the joy of making.
Tracey believes quilting is more than stitching fabric—it’s stitching people together. Her energy is contagious, her laughter is loud, and her passion is genuine. Whether she’s teaching a block, telling a story, or encouraging someone to try a new tool, Tracey makes sure the quilting journey is as memorable as the finished quilt.
Meet Debi – The Adventurous Quilter
Debi Bucciarelli began quilting in 2012 as a form of occupational therapy during her stroke recovery—a journey that quickly blossomed into a lifelong passion. Creating 10 to 12 quilts each year, she eventually retired from her “real world” career and purchased Wooden Gate Quilts in Danville, California. As shop owner, Debi immersed herself in every corner of the quilting world, exploring and teaching techniques from wool appliqué and English paper piecing to organic appliqué. A certified Laura Heine collage instructor and a not-so-secret stasher of Liberty and Tilda fabrics, Debi continues to blend creativity and community in all she does. After relocating to Fishers, Indiana in 2024, she now serves as Education Committee Chair for the Mudsock Quilt Guild, sharing her love of quilting and lifelong learning with others.
